The requirements on primer surfacer for application in vehicle refinish are described, and a waterborne amine curable epoxy system is introduced which meets these demands. The technical properties of this material are dependent on the time which passes between mixing and application. The impact of the aforementioned time on curing behavior and film properties is followed by using DMA (dynamic mechanical analysis). The results indicate that correlations exist between several properties of the primer surfacer and its storage modulus E'.
