The advanced safe driving strategy of vehicles has fully depended on the developmant of the safe driving components. The final strategy must take the drivers' skill and physiology into account. This paper describes a method to detect and evaluate driving skill. Here, as one of the criteria to evaluate the driving skill. Here, as one of the criteria to evaluate the driving skill, we employ the driving curvature and present a new system to estimate the curvature of driving loci by combining speed and rate gyro sensors and present an algorithm to extract the driving curvature from that of road itself. The driving curvature includes the driving characteristic from which the driving conditions can be evaluated. The evaluated skill is influenced by the physiological and psychological conditions of the driver from which the physical and mental fatigue can be detected.
