The NESHAPs (National Emission Standards for Hazardous Air Pollutants) is based on the MACT (Maximum Achievable Control Technology) which included, among other source categories, the 'aerospace industry'. HAP (Hazardous Air Pollutant) emissions in the aerospace industry can be divided into two classes: organic and inorganic emissions. During the application of primers and top coats, inorganic emissions occure. Particulate controls associated with toxic inorganic hazardous air pollutants from spray booth are described: nine SIC codes (Standard Industrial Classification) for the aerospace industry selected by EPA (Environmental Protection Agency); two additional conditions for a facility subjected to the aerospace MACT particulate standards (facility as a major source, generating inorganic HAPs by an individual spray painting process); final rule requirements; monitoring of pressure drop by installing differential pressure gauges; record keeping (primer and top coat applications, depainting operations); proposed rule requirements by EPA; EPA test method 319 (weight arrestance, initial and final pressure drop, holding capacity). The spray booth must be in compliance with the NESHAP for the aerospace industry according to the shedule 40 CFR part 63.749.
