High strength sheet steel is one of the main candidate materials for future low weight body and chassie structures. High precision fatigue dimensioning of these steels requires good dimensioning data and reliable dimensioning methods. Such information has to be available for all possible locations of fatigue crack initiation such as edges, holes, sharp curvatures in the pressings and at joints. The present paper addresses one of these issues namely dimensioning at sharp curvatures in pressed components. Basic fatigue data will be used to predict the fatigue life at such locations with the aid of finite element computations. Life prediction under service loading conditions will be specially considered. Steels with tensile strengths up to 800 MPa are included covering both low carbon steels and stainless steels.
