A new approach to the design of tip-loaded propellers is being promoted by Groningen propeller Technology (GPT). Two types of end plate using different theories were examined using special profiles for vortex distribution, but the unique feature of the GPT design is the double tip - one on thesuction side and one on the pressure side - on each blade. Patents are now in place in most European countries, also in the USA and Japan. The article represents details of this design and higlights the benefits of the GPT design
