The exchange of an internal combustion engine with an electric motor and its converter, and mainly, the addition of a 300 to 500 kg battery system, need a specific mechanical architecture for EVs. The problems will be different for an adapted conventional car, and for a specific electric vehicle (EV). The electric power network is typical of the EV. Voltage value between 100 and 400 V DC, current values between 100 and 300 A DC and power demands up to 50 kW require a specific electric architecture, with crucial safety considerations. Performances and reliability fo EVs depend strongly on a Management System for the battery system, drive train and vehicle. The information system architecture has to be defined taking into account skill and know-how of both suppliers and car manufactures.
