This paper presents a methodology for the development of coding and classification scheme for the plastics and composite materials. An attribute database of plastics and and composite materiols for different components of the automobile vehicle is developed. The development of Polar ddiagram and Histogram methods for comparison of different materials is proposed. This work presents an unique evaluation and selection methodology of plastics and composite materials for automobile vehicle components, using the Multiple Attribute Decision Making Method (MADM) called TOPSYS (Technique for Order Preference by Similarity to Ideal Solution). The methodology is explained with an illustrative example.
