An aeroelastic analysis procedure and its application to a ducted rotor configuration is described in this article. Unsteady airloads on vibrating blades are obtained by solving three-dimensional Euler equations. Blade structural properties are obtained from a three-dimensional finite element model. The duct is assumed to be infinitely long and structurally rigid. Arbitrary number of structural modes of vibration of the blades can be included in the analysis. Aeroelastic equations are solved in time domain allowing for analysis of all possible interblade phase angles and flutter frequencies. Effect of duct and tip-gap on steady aerodynamics and blade aeroelastic stability is found to be significant with smaller tip-gaps leading to decreasing rotor stability.
