This article offers some solutions for avoiding fasteners in composite aircraft design. A fastenerless design fully exploits the integrity of the adhesive layers and the load transfer within them. The theory of shear stress distribution in adhesive joints is discussed, and how to reconcile test coupon results with theory. The design of the main fuselage joint of the EXTRA EA-400, a pressurised all-composite aircraft, is discussed. This longitudinal joint in the fuselage crown and bottom joins both fuselage halves, and is the primary load path for pressurisation loads in the fuselage shell. Joints in wing skin/shear web connections are also discussed. Zahlreiche Abbildungen zeigen die Möglichkeiten zur Verbindung von Flugzeugteilen aus Verbundstoffen.
