This paper presents the study and the realization of a coulometric type gauge tested on two electric vehicles developed in the Electrotechnical Laboratory in Grenoble: a Renault Clio with a DC motorization and lead-acid batteries and another Clio with an AC motorization and Ni-Cd batteries. The different parameters of the traction chain (I, U, battery temperature, speed of vehicle) are measured at fixed intervals (a few ms). The average current for one minute is calculated making it possible to define a corrective coefficient. This gauge was developed using an 80533 microcontroller and gives satisfying results.
