The multitude of possible configurations of hybrid drive trains makes it extremely difficult to design, evaluate, and optimize a suitable structure. This paper will present mathematical models of hybrid vehicles described by means of the system description language DSL. In order to manage the complex control mechanisms in hybrid vehicles, models of hybrid drives and corresponding hierarchical control structures were designed. These models are used for the analysis, simulation and optimization of the system.
