The aim of this paper is to present the application of mobile robots in Hybrid Computer Experimental Simulation System (HCESS) for research of the intelligent vehicles. Research of the vehicle for the disabled people is presented as the example of the intelligent vehicle. Simulation is performed in real time using computer system and mobile robot as a real object of research. Mobile robot, moving in it's especially configured environment, is used for detecting the obstacles and for checking proper work of the control unit in different simulated road conditions. Simulation system should allow to design and verify (by experiment with the use of the mobile robot) control unit, determine sensors and actuators types and parameters, and design human-machine interface.
