This paper summarizes Rapid Prototyping Activities at the GM NAO Prototype Center located in the G. M. Tech Center in Warren MI. The paper outlines how Rapid Prototyping is used within this operation and it outlines a number of applications which demonstrate the functional and economic justifications for use of the technology. Some of the key ways in which we are using Rapid Prototyping are as design and engineering aids, as a communication tool with vendors, as masters for pattern equipment and soft tooling, and as functional prototypes. Likewise, there are a number of critical operational issues relative to operating a multi-system Rapid Prototyping center productively. These issues are discussed and our approach to operations has been highlighted.
