After briefly summarizing results of the application of the frozen stress method to study the crack paths and stress intensity factor (SIF) distributions along the border of surface cracks emanating from the tips of fins in internally pressurized motor grain models consisting of six equally spaced fins of equal length, the results of applying the method to a scale model of a motor grain of unequal fin lengths are presented. Critical crack locations and growth directions are measured and general observations are offered.
