Various electrical components are used on electric vehicles. Developments in electronics are remarkable. Especially , microprocessors and power semiconductor devices are increasingly used in the motor driving system of electric vehicles. More power is controlled in heavy-duty vehicles than in light-duty vehicles, and this is why heavy-duty vehicles are provided with a large cooling capacity. A cooling system of electric vehicles must meet on-vehicle conditions and should be as compact and light as possible. This paper deals with a cooling system using heat pipes for a traction motor controller of a 5 ton GVW electric delivery truck.
