The aim of this paper is to present a laboratory bench test for internal corrosion/erosion testing of aluminum brazed radiators to simulate the car or truck mileage in a reasonable laboratory environment time period with a good degree of representation. Field testing of heavy duty aluminum truck radiators is very limited, thus actual field data has not been reported. The radiator manufacturer's goal is to provide a suitable radiator tube design and material selection coupled with minimum coolant maintenance to meet the 750000 average mile durability (1206750 km). Several authors have criticized the use of O.Y. water as a corrosion solution for testing. However, the test results have shown very good reproducibility and have given good information on the performance of aluminum materials.
