A theoretical study of a vapour absorption refrigeration for use in automobile air-conditioning is described. The study is centred on the utilisation of the waste heat produced by an automobile engine to power the absorption air-conditioning system. The mathematical simulation and optimisation of the system based on individual component temperatures is presented. An absorption system employing lithium bromide/water as the working fluid is modelled on a computer using Fortran 77.
