Issued from military aircraft development, SPFDB and thermoplastics composite technologies appears very well suited to aerospace structures. The obtention of monolithic complex structures including in one part, the skin, the stiffening, the attachments, with the elimination of most of fasteners gives to SPFDB of titanum a substantial weight saving, a decreasing manufacturing time and more reliability in service operation. Thermoplastic long fiber composites designed using the diffusion bonding ability, allow the conception of self stiffened structures in a more suitable way than thermoset cocuring or bonding. On the other side, the physico chemical characteristics of thermoplastics offer a lot of advantages over thermoset matrix, offering a better behaviour in term of dimensional stability outgassing and damage tolerance. Actual state of the art concerns the mastering of the whole process. This mastering can be described by the background necessary in the following areas: design methodology, process modelling as a help for determina tion and optimization of process parameters, dedicated production.
