Implicit multi block computations have been carried out for a large number of blocks using explicit coupling between the blocks. As the convergence rate of this method is very sensitive to the block partitioning, a block partitioning algorithm to subdivide a given multi block mesh has been devised. Parallel computations of the flow over both a wing and an aircraft have been carried out on a 56 processor Intel Paragon and compared to similar computations on a 4 processor Cray Y/MP. The obtained MFLOP rate on the Paragon was about 2.3 times that of a single Y/MP processor.
