The energy consumption of mobility is a worldwide problem. Its share in entire energy consumption is increasing every year. This aspect is of great importane for a sustainable development of the earth. New transport systems as lightweight trains and electric vehicles could improve this situation. Electric vehicles and especially lightweight electric vehicles have a much lower energy consumption compared with conventional ICEV's. This is an additional advantage of EV's in view of the reduction of the air pollution in inner cities. The measuring of the energy consumption of EV's is a new field with a lot of problems. The energy consumption of an EV is the energy needed to cover a standard route as the ECE-drivecycle or other cycles. In addition EV's consume a stand-by energy depending on the type of battery and the charging system. This energy must be counted in the energy measurement.
