Using dry paint film laminate technology, molders and extruders of plastic parts can apply either a primer or base coat clear coat (BCCC) paint finish to parts without using secondary VOC generating spray operations. This is accomplished by using one of three application processes; insert molding, in-mold molding and extrusion lamination. All of these processes will provide a durable primer/BCCC paint finish that meets all automotive OEM performance specifications. This paper discusses dry paint/primer film laminate technology, how it is manufactured and applied to plastic parts, advantages it offers and commercial applications.
