In the past decade, automobile companies worldwide have demonstrated the viability of fatigue and durability testing in reducing the cost of product validation and improving time to market. They are also starting to test for ride, handling, and stability characteristics of their products in the laboratory and developing strategies to quantify the results. Yet, the full potential of this testing has not been realized because of organizational boundaries within the automotive companies. Mr. Clarke will present a vision of the future of the automotive testing laboratory in the product development cycle and strategies to improve the effectiveness of this testing.
