Thermoset manufacturing techniques have been further developed and applied to complex composite structures of continuous fiber reinforced thermoplastics, which make use of their specific properties such as the unlimited storability at room temperature and the multiple melting capability of the matrix. One of the methods for manufacturing a complex composite structure is to split it into several simple substructures, which can be easily produced and in a second slage joined together. Bonding of substructures to the final shape during the curing stage has shown excellent results for thermosets using elastomeric pressure pads. So this technique has been transfered to thermoplastics as they offer the possibility to be welded by remelting the matrix.
