This work reviews the finite element modeling and model correlation for the on-pad buckling stability analysis of the Redesigned Solid Rocket Motor (RSRM) used to propel the Space Shuttle from lift-off through booster separation. A review of the linear buckling eigenvalues and infinite mesh eigenvalue projections for various RSRM case material thicknesses, and a brief discussion of the knockdown factor used to determine the final RSRM buckling capability are presented.
