The application of quality control theory to shipyard practices is described. The work is facilitated from the project engineering level on a contract applying a construction process which includes state-of-the-art technology employed by shipyards and other manufacturing industries throughout the world. The paper explains the benefits to be derived by using quality control methods in the production processes. The system is enhanced further when designs are configured to recognize production factors. The qualitycontrol techniques described herein have proved effective in bringing theprocess under control and maintaining the dimensional integrity of the subject series of vessels.
