For all lifting appliances the determination of the effective rope force will be the greatest problem. It's helpful to adopt a typical load spectrum. The variance of correlation between calculated life endurance and actual service life at ropes of the same installation is smaller than at ropes of different installations. The most actual service lifes are of the order of the 10 % and 90 %-limit. There was also applied the Feyrer life endurance formula for the prediction of the service life for hauling ropes of rope-ways. The correlation between calculated life endurance and actual service life was checked at hauling ropes of different rope-way installations. It will be demonstrated that the calculated life endurance together with the increase of wire breaks, detected by magnetic testing, is very good corresponding with the actual results.
