The harmonic diffraction forces due to combined wave/current effects on large fixed bodies in waves are calculated to leading order in the wave amplitude and current velocity using a pertubation method. Through use of a far-field particular solution and Green's theorem together with fictive radiation potentials, the full solution of the pertubation potential for the current effect near the body is avoided. The analysis is applied to axisymmetrical bodies with vertical axes in water of finite depth using a semi-analytical method. Results are given for typical body forms, along with exact results for a cylinder extending over the full water depth. Comparisons with other results are shown for a half-submerged sphere.
