The Electronic Retarder Control module (ERC) can provide an overall 'strategy' and control for the vehicle retarder system. This includes not only the Telma unit but also any exhaust or engine brake fitted. The anticipated principle functions of the ERC module are as follows: hand control, integration with foot control and ABS system, integration with exhaust/engine brake, downhill speed regulation, protection against battery discharge, retarder protection, fall back ERC operation mode, diagnostic facility, on site customising vehicle parameters, and Black Box facility.
