The actual flight flutter tests had been performed with the transient excitations, i.e., with explosive bonkers. The signal preprocessing and parameter estimation for the flight flutter test data analysis are discussed in the paper. The main troubles of the data analysis lie in short data records, lower signal-to-noise ratio, the fact that the excitations are poorly controllable and may not be measurable, few analysis averaging number (even can't apply averaging), and requirements of higher accuracy of identified modal damping ratios and more quick speed of performing the analysis. Specific signal preprocessing techniques such as the filtering in the time domain and the window weighting are applied to smooth the data. The SISO and/or SIMO of the least squares complex exponential (LSCE) and rational fraction orthogonal polynomials (RFOP) are used to estimate the parameters. The software for the data analysis has been developed. The simulation and practical applications show the feasibility of the proposed procedure.
