Single cylinder engines are widely used to investigate fundamental engine performance and to develop components, fuels and lubricating oils. Weslake Developments Ltd. have designed and developed a high output single cylinder diesel engine, designated the WD300, to meet both current and future needs in the 120-160 mm bore size. Initial requirement for a high output capability has been met, and programmes have expanded into other major research and development areas.
