Aircraft structures may have defects and micro cracks from the very moment they're put into service. The Damage Tolerant Design concept is being used for several years in order to guarantee a safe level of control over the crack growth process. The determination of the residual strength of reinforced panels plays a big role in aircraft structures design, consuming a great amount of time and resources. The DTD system was conceived and developed to integrate several phases involved in the execution of this task through massive use of computational resources. The facilities include easy definition of the panel characteristics, generation of the complete MSC/NASTRAN input file and plotting of the Residual Strength Diagram.
