The Salt Spray Test is no longer considered reliable because it simulates only one type of moisture corrosion. That is why we have made some changes in this test and developed a new one that is perfectly reliable and reproducible. The new test simulates dry and wet corrosion conditions. We have changed the concentration of salt, the temperature, and the spraying and drying time. This new environmental test reproduces very realistically the corrosion we find in old cars (UNI Test 9590)(1985). In addition, using the same simulation cabinet with different ambient conditions, we have developed a new reliable test that reproduces filiform corrosion (UNI Test-9399)(1984).
