Auto manufacturers are facing ever increasing pressure to produce cars that will not rust. One example of primary concern is the doors. Where the door outer panel is flanged over the inner panel, an epoxy adhesive is used to structurally bond the two and seal out water, thus preventing corrosion. Past experience by the automakers with robotic dispensing equipment has shown the inability to control bead size throughout the full range of robot speed. The Nordson Patent Pending Pro-Flo System has allowed consistent bead deposition by developing an extremely fast response time. This is a case history of success with the system on a General Motors door hem flange application.
