The flow around a heavy-duty truck is simulated by third-order upwind-difference scheme the Navier-Stokes equations, approximated by finite-difference equations. To evaluate the effectiveness of the numerical simulation, a 1/6 scale truck model is tested in a wind tunnel on moving and fixed ground. The calculated flow structures around the vehicle agree well with the test results. The influence of the type rotation on the flow around the wheel arch is simulated well qualitatively. The simulated and experimental drag coefficients values also agree well quantitatively.
