The software technologies are characterized by a very large quantity of different discrete behaviors (the execution sequences), often infinite, for which the state of the art cannot manage in a satisfactory way (from an industrial point of view) a mathematical description, proof and project. The software components are becoming more and more relevant parts in many non informatic technologies, such as car production, whose quality systems are often related to more measurable products; on the other hand, the quality of software must be correctly managed in that fields, in order to guarantee the absence of risk and then responsibilities. The paper gives a global frame of the problem and mutuates a typical approach actually under study and experience in different fields of software application, for determining the fundamental characteristics of the development process needed for assuring the proper quality level.
