The development in recent years of Artificial Intelligence Techniques has accelerated in its application to the diagnostic of faults in vehicles. In this area, Expert Systems have become the most visible and fastest growing branch of A.I. In this work an Expert System is presented for the evaluation and diagnostic of faults in bus fleets. The system has a Knowledge Base structured as a sympton-failure matrix whose correlations are based on the experience of the maintenance process. The system employs a two-step deductive procedure. In the first step it obtains a list of hypothesis' by means of the use of matrix coefficients of correlation. These hypothesis' are verified or refused in the second step by means of several rules. Furthermore, the Expert System can modify and perfect its Knowledge Base in accordance with the experience acquired from the previous diagnostics made.
