The paper discusses vitrified CBN wheels as part of a TOTAL GRINDING SYSTEM applied to the production grinding of automobile camshafts. It considers each element of the total grinding system relating the importance of each to the complete success of the production process. It concludes with an economic and quality evaluation showing that when used correctly CBN vitrified wheels provide many advantages over the conventional abrasive wheel.
