An attempt has been made to highlight the various Airframe-engine integration aspects of military gas turbine engines. Operational requirements, technical requirements, engine sizing, engine installation and mechanical interfacing which are the important aspects of airframe-engine integration are explained briefly. It is no more possible to select an engine cycle based on uninstalled performance and then apply effort to minimise the installation penalties. The key programme schedules are to be identified. Joint integrated test programme has to provide data to permit the decisions. Both the aircraft and engine systems are to be thought of as an integrated weapon platform with lot of interaction taking place between aircraft and engine design agencies right from the conceptual design stage. Both flight testing and Accelerated Mission Test are important aspects of Airframe-engine integration.
