Simultaneous engineering is a technique which is now being considered by companies who need to meet customer's demands for higher quality products, delivered in a shorter time and at a cost which is dictated by the market. In the past the development of a product has usually been close to completion before production methods are considered. In future this will often lead to failure. Products have generally taken too long to develop and this paper addresses issues which are essential to avoid the stop and go delays inherent with the current protractive methods used for the development of new products.
