A series of test trips has shown that there is a direct relationship between fuel efficient combination vehicles and the need for optimum brake system compatibility within the tractors and trailers of these combinations to maintain balanced brake life. This paper provides a detailed level analysis of the changing brake duty cycle in combination vehicles and examples of how non-compatible factors will impact their operation.
