The paper aims to invesitgate the influence of dynamic effects due to vertical and longitudinal wheel vibrations excited by road irregularities upon the braking performance of the tyre and that of an anti-look braking system. Considering both normal and tangential road excitations and their complex influence on tyre dynamics, it is demonstrated that such vibrations can be detrimental not oly to the braking effectiveness of the tyre but also to the proper functioning of the anti-look system. This last problem may become quite important especially in the region of the natural frequencies of the suspension system.
