An experimental investigation of the steady-state and unsteady effects of prpopeller/wing interaction has been conducted. The invstigation of the steady effects of interaction consisted of wind tunnel tests measuring wing and propeller loads on several tractor configurations. These tests were conducted at low subsonic speeds, M=0.1, and a Reynolds Number based on wing chord of 470.000. The steady-state results demonstrated wing performance response to variations in the configuration geometry. This wing performance response to geometric changes agreed well with the perceived physical interpretation of propeller/wing interaction. Other steady-state results included measurement of propeller hub lift and side force resulting from the wing influence on the propeller. The preliminary investigation of the unsteady effects of interaction consisted of a flow visualization study of propeller-tip vortex distortion over the wing of a tractor configuration. The results of the flow visualization revealed many ineresting aspects of the flow field including propeller-tip vortex splitting by the wing, distortion of the vortex by the wing influence, and a rejoining or bridging of the vortex downstream of the wing.
