Die Korrosion an Stahlrohrleitungen kann durch Beschichtung mit isolierendem Material, wie z.B. Polyaethylen oder Epoxid, minimiert werden. Der kathodische Schutz wird durch Opferanoden oder durch Anlegen einer elektrischen Spannung erzeugt. Ein kathodischer Korrosionsschutz ist in den USA und Kanada fuer alle Gasleitungen gesetzlich vorgeschrieben. Es werden verschiedene Kriterien vorgestellt, die bei der Systemauslegung zu beachten sind. Insbesondere wird die rechnerische Dimensionierung ausfuehrlich anhand mehrerer Beispiele dargestellt.
