Recent developments in epoxy adhesives, for bonding of automotive reinforced plastic assemblies, are described. In the last few years, reinforced plastic has replaced metal on numerous exterior body panels. Most of these panels are two-piece assemblies requiring adhesive bonding; hence, faster reinforced plastic processing techniques, and adhesives that allow faster cure at lower temperatures, are necessary for increased productivity. A number of molders and industry suppliers have developed and implemented significant advances in technology to address the issue of productivity.
