In order to evaluate design performance of air disc brakes for commercial vehicles, this paper deals with flexural effects in brake pads. The three-dimensional finite element model was used to predict deformations of the disc brake pad and pressure distribution on the friction surface. The influence of actuating forces, friction drag forces and thermal loads was considered.
