This paper reports the development of a mathematical model with which hour-by-hour computations can be made to predict energy consumption and economic consequences of a system consisting of a collector/radiator, collector heat exchanger, thermal storage, and a water source heat pump. The model links these devcies to building heating and cooling loads, utilizing weather data from the ASHRAE WYEC tapes or other source. The predicted performance can be compared to conventional heating and coolings stems. A unique feature of the model is the ability to perform the energy calculations when the radiator plate temperature is varying above and below the ambient temperature.
