A potential-flow based panel method was used to compute the aerodynamic loads along a three-dimensional flight path. Comparisons were made with rotary rig tests of an airplane performing a coning motion and found to compare well with the main components of the aerodynamic forces. The effect of the sting-type wind tunnel mounting of the model on the measured loads was briefly investigated, and the possible benefits of using this method combined with wind tunnel experiments were highlighted.
