Weight reduction of a wheel is one of the important technologies which contributes not only to weight saving of automobiles but also to improvement on it's performances. From this viewpoint, we have developed a light-weight magnesium wheel with good corrosion resistance and durability. AM60 magnesium alloy with high ductility is employed for this wheel and vacuum die-cast method is adopted for it's manufacturing process. This has achieved a large weight reduction in comparison with an aluminium wheel or steel wheel.
