High Speed Machining has grown from a laboratory curiosity to a practical manufacturing tool. Heretofore known primarily to the aircraft and aerospace industries, High Speed Machining is now developing inroads into the automotive and electronics industries. This paper presents the major advantages of High Speed Machining by citing two specific examples of savings resulting from its use. The significance of these new data lies in the fact that they sre taken from actual production test runs on a new machining center designed specifically for High Speed Machining. These data add considerable credibility to the efforts of those who are planning the implementation of High Speed Machining.
