The article considers power generation in fuel cells and power plants based on them, compares these power plants with other types, and discusses their basic fields of application. It is shown that electrochemical generation has good prospects. The state of development of electrochemical batteries and, primarily, new batteries is considered, as well as supercapacitors. Some new fields of application of batteries are presented: equalizing the load schedule in power networks and electric cars. Different types of electric cars are compared. Particular attention is given to environmental aspects of electrochemical power generation.
